What are evaluations?
Evaluations are held each spring to quickly evaluate kids on their basic baseball and softball abilities. Children will hit, run, throw, catch, field groundballs/flyballs and pitch if needed. This helps us in balancing the teams through a draft process. Equal teams provide the best experience for children of all ability levels.
What happens if I can’t attend evaluations?
We understand that there are times when your child cannot make evaluations due to schedule conflicts. We highly encourage all children to attend evaluations to help the league maintain equal teams. If your child misses evaluations, they will still be placed on a team but may be subject to random placement.
What should my child wear/bring?
Please wear appropriate athletic attire. No cleats allowed. Bring glove, helmet, and bat (if you have one). If you are a catcher and have your own gear, feel free to bring it.
Where are evaluations?
Evaluations will be held at Airpark Kids Zone, 11169 Air Park Rd, Ashland, VA 23005.
When are evaluations?
See below, times are broken out between division and last name. We estimate your child will be in the facility roughly 45 minutes (possibly up to an hour if a pitcher and/or catcher). Please arrive at the time listed for your last name to help us keep a limited number of children inside the facility at any one time. If you can’t make it at the time of your last name, please show up anytime during your division’s scheduled time.
What happens if I can’t make it during my division’s scheduled time?
If your child is unavailable during their division’s time, please fill out the form below and select another time window in which you are open. You will be contacted closer to evaluations with a make-up schedule.
Can parents watch evaluations?
Space is limited inside the facility. Please come check your child in at the desk and once they are settled, we are asking parents to wait outside or in their cars. One parent may stay inside if the child feels uncomfortable being left alone.
Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, Machine Pitch 6/7 (MP1), 50/70 and Seniors will not have evaluations.
